China International Trade Fair for Apparel Fabrics & Accessories
Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre, Shanghai, China
19 – 22 October 2010

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2010 already confirms more than 60% of previous participating suppliers

Despite shift in production costs and manufacturing, China still considered one of the world’s leading industry marketplaces

On-site market study reveals that more than 20% of last year’s buyers came to source accessories

For more than 15 years, the Intertextile trade shows have been long associated with quality and internationality. As the ultimate business platform in China for the apparel fabrics and textile related products industry, more than 60 percent of previous exhibitors have already confirmed their participation at the four-day event, which is to be held from 19 October 2010 at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre. Due to overwhelming popularity, the first day, Tuesday, 19 October 2010 will be exclusively open for invited buyers only.

To date, country and region pavilions from Germany, Japan, Italy, Korea, Taiwan and Thailand will return as well as group pavilions representing Cotton USA, Hyosung, Invista and Lenzing. The show will feature a wide range of products from cotton, wool, silk and man-made fabrics to linings, zippers and threads on 115,000 sqm of trade space.

“Early exhibitor confirmation reflects the importance of this event and proves that it is the quality platform in the region chosen by industry professionals from around the world,” stated Ms Wendy Wen, Director, Trade Fairs for Messe Frankfurt HK Ltd.

“This further demonstrates that China is one of the most favourable destinations for trade,” observed Ms Wen. Reinforcing this statement, the National Bureau of Statistics recently released China’s gross domestic product statistics for the first quarter of 2010, which was recorded at an overall 12 percent rise from the same period last year.

With consumer habits in China changing, domestic buyers’ sourcing requirements will vary as well. In order to determine the needs of last year’s 54,000 buyers and to accommodate for their expectations this year, fair organisers conducted an important on-site market study. This revealed that more than 20 percent of the designers, retailers and garment manufacturers were looking to source accessories at the fair.

This year, an accessories hall (E6) will once again highlight all types of fashionable and functional products on over 10,000 sqm of exhibition space. Ms Bonnie Lam, Senior Sales Manager for Esquel Enterprises Limited and an exhibitor last year commented on the rising product demand. “Most domestic garment makers are purchasing quality accessories that mirror what Chinese consumers are looking for. They understand the significance of producing clothing that meets with international standards.” She further noted: “With this in mind, China certainly is a huge market for us to develop and this show is an excellent platform to expand our business.”
