PURE & PLAY 2008 After the grand success of 1st PURE and PLAY we take great pride in announcing a highly innovative initiative tailored 2nd PURE and PLAY for two of the most complex consumer sets in India – WOMEN and KIDS. Two consumer sets that offer unbelievable branding opportunities, but also ones that offer incredible challenges for fashion and lifestyle goods manufacturers.
The purpose is to power pan-India branding and the retail offer for every possible product category for women and kids. The strategy is to connect vendors, manufacturers (from small to large), designers, to organized retail
merchandisers and buyers through a B2B interface that allows product displays, sampling, sourcing, merchandise management, vendor retailer and knowledge transfer.
Simply because merchandise for the modern Indian woman is a wide territory from apparel (in basics to fashion, in traditional to western, in casual to ultra formal and specialty clothing), from travel accessories to jewellery, from timewear to footwear, and from cosmetics to diet foods. It is a challenging expanse, and given India's geographical spread and diverse tastes, creating a national brand and extending it to retail is a tough proposition. And for kids, the category keeps enlarging. Today, it comprises not just apparel, but also specialty furniture & furnishings, games, toys, character merchandise, hobby ideas, learning tools and more. But, branding is minimal. What India requires is a booming specialty retail offering that offers niche kids' merchandise delivered in differentiated environments. But specialty retail can only arise out of differentiated merchandise, and retailers need access to such manufacturers, and vice versa
And that is what PURE and PLAY will do. We want the retail experience for Indian women and children to be upgraded, and fast. And we want to create an access route for manufacturers to meet with India's largest retailers and specialty stores, and for them to reap the benefits and excitement of India's organized retail revolution.
